Commercial production limited to regions with mild winters, rather warm spring, late frosts rare and summers cool. Approximately 70% of world production is from Turkey along the southern coast of the Black Sea. The coastal regions of Italy and the Mediterranean coast of Spain supply a further 20% and 7% respectively.
